Addis Abebaye Restaurant - Aethiopisches Restaurant in Mainz

Had some experience with Ethiopian food before and really likes it, so at least I was able to make a comparison. This was very positive at the Addis Abebaye restaurant at Parcusstrasse 1 in Mainz (near the main station). After ordering over the phone (four main courses and a starter), the food could be picked up after half an hour (delivery would of course have been possible, but I decided to pick it up because I was nearby). The lady who gave me the food is especially nice and, after I told them it was my birthday, offered me free beer or wine. In any case, the food tastes at least as good as I remembered it, if not better. There was also an abundance of flatbreads, we couldn't all eat, so we can have some today and maybe even tomorrow. The Addis Abebaye also offers vegan and vegetarian dishes. I ate a vegetarian tasting plate, which was prepared vegan on request. Highly recommended!

Very tasty in taste. But unfortunately the mixed platter for 2 people that was delivered was far too little for the price (28 euros). A small aluminum bowl and only 4 flatbreads. The anticipation for the meal was great, but unfortunately we are now disappointed and a little hungry.

This was the first time we were in Addis Abebaye ... are so excited. Everything was very, very tasty and as I said ... very, very great. Very nice and friendly ... we'll be back too

Eaten Ethiopian and African for the first time. The restaurant appeared to be very authentic, the service was very friendly and the food came quickly, was very tasty and very filling! Would come back again! :)

The food tastes really good and it's worth the experience! Is something different to eat and enjoy with your hands. Always my pleasure!!

We were there for the first time and ordered the mixed platter. Everything was very tasty, the service was very attentive. Strangely enough, the bill was brought in unsolicited after the meal. That looked kind of weird. Atmosphere not so cozy. This is probably due to the sober furniture and the too bright lighting (cold white LED and energy-saving lamps). Still to be recommended!

Tasted good but the portion was a rip off. My dish was served in an elongated aluminum bowl (ordered for home). My anticipation was so great. There was also a small aluminum bowl with salad. When opening the elongated aluminum shell, the mega SHOCK. The meat content with sauce was less than the salad in the small bowl! I was optically deceived. That is not how it works. And 13 euros for a dish is quite a bit of money. Unfortunately, I would not order more there unless the portion changes to normal. (Ahja, I'm not a fat person who eats a lot but eat normally! For example, don't create more than a kebab)

Delicious food, served in interesting way. A lot of vegan options in menu. Nice local beer. Friendly staff, which showed us how to eat the dish (with fingers :D )

I would love to give even 6 stars if I could. This was magnifique. Totally different experience. We were not expacting that. The food was served in unusual way on big cake. The service was very kind and we were tought how to eat it with hands. There are vegan and meat options. One serving was huge and I could not finish. I strongly recommend this place.

Simple equipment, but incredibly friendly service. And the food was delicious. Definitely go there. Worth it.

Very good food, friendly and warm service, fair prices. The atmosphere is nice, but you can still see a little that it was once a wine bar. Can easily keep up with the other African restaurants in Mainz.

Absolutely delicious food, both meat dishes and great vegan options. Large portions for the price; what we didn't do was kindly packed up for us. To digest an incredibly delicious fresh coffee. Very courteous and attentive service - we are very satisfied :)

We were there for the second time this year, and it certainly wasn't the last time. The very friendly and friendly reception, the delicious food and the quiet atmosphere are some of the reasons why you MUST go back! We are looking forward!

Very tasty food, good portion, makes you feel full. Some things could be spiced a little more but it's a matter of taste. We recommend!

Ordered by delivery at 8:00 p.m. (restaurant is 5-8 minutes away by car). 20:30 called where the food stays. According to the restaurant, the driver is in the restaurant and the food is delivered immediately. 9:00 p.m. called again where the food stays. According to the restaurant, the driver left 20 minutes ago. 9:30 p.m. called again to hear the food is coming in 5 minutes and I should be patient until I completely cancel the order. Food never arrived.

Great food, very friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. Eating is traditionally done without cutlery and that is really fun ? There is also a really wide selection for vegetarians and vegans. Absolute recommendation beyond the usual!

We visited this evening and had a very nice meal. I appreciated being able to make a reservation online. The location is a 2 minute walk from Mainz Hauptbahnhof. We ordered the mixed plate for two people and ordered a chicken dish for our kids. While we were waiting for our food, the waiter brought us two complementary sambusas for the kids. They were very good. We also received a complementary small bottle of water with the bottle of wine that we ordered. The main meal was also delicious. All of the items on the platter were very good and there was more than we could finish. Plenty of injera bread was provided. We took the extra home. The waiter packed the extra food with great care and included extra injera. The waiter also brought my two boys a piece of cake, complimentary again. My son gave the cake a 10 out of 10 :-) We certainly won't expect all of these free items the next time we return, but we will surely return regardless. The staff was friendly and warm and all the guests in the restaurant seemed happy and comfortable.

Friendly service prices are okay but the typical food. I really recommend is meat dishes. The vegetables are often a bit bland or somewhat unnecessary. When someone orders the special coffee, the waitress runs through the restaurant with a pan and shows how the coffee is being roasted. This creates an interesting but sometimes burnt scent. The special coffee unfortunately does not taste good at all .. more like really cheap filter coffee

My first time trying Ethiopian food and I was very impressed. The presentation of the food, the taste, and also the friendliness of the staff was all great. I would highly recommend them as it is a quite new restaurant :)

I love the presentation of the food ... it is so Yammy!!! I can’t wait to come next time !
